Dry Dock 5 and Constitution Pier
Bring a little Charlestown home.
Corkwood Coaster Set · Four pieces · 3.75 × 3.75 inches
A visit from friends can begin with setting down cups and glasses, leaving a moment to notice the pictures beneath them. Dry Dock 5, Shipways 1 and Constitution Pier give this Navy Yard view several named working elements to notice around the water.
The 1946 source records a compilation photograph whose primary caption identifies the named yard elements. The yard's piers and buildings connect this particular view to Boston's history of shipbuilding, repair and harbor work. They preserve a working waterfront at the time of the source.
The dock, shipways and pier connect different uses of the same yard, keeping the identified facilities within one Boston naval waterfront setting. The set can be a useful gift for the table at home, with the local subject part of the cups and conversation.
