Assabet Aqueduct
Bring a little Northborough home.
Metal Art Sign · 7 × 5 inches
An indoor wall near the entryway or desk is somewhere you pass often, with time to notice the sign's picture between setting down your keys and the next task. Northborough's masonry aqueduct and its reflected arches give the Assabet a piece of water infrastructure to notice beside the river itself.
An 1897 photograph records Northborough's masonry Assabet aqueduct and its water reflections. Preserved in the Massachusetts Archives' Metropolitan Water Works collection, the image documents water infrastructure. The arches belong to an aqueduct, giving this riverside landmark a different purpose from the valley's railway bridges.
The aqueduct connects the river landscape with water supply. Hang it where there is room for a local view, with the story there to share when someone asks about the subject.
