USS Arkansas at Boston Navy Yard
Bring a little Charlestown home.
Square Magnet · 4 × 4 inches
Between checking a list and leaving the kitchen, there is a moment to look at the small picture on the fridge. USS Arkansas returns to the Boston Navy Yard for refurbishment in the source view, giving maintenance work a particular vessel to focus on.
The primary caption describes return from European invasion service for refurbishment; record cataloged 1946. The yard's piers and buildings connect this particular view to Boston's history of shipbuilding, repair and harbor work. They preserve a working waterfront at the time of the source.
The battleship connects naval service with subsequent yard work, keeping refurbishment as part of Boston's recorded waterfront activity alongside construction and repair. Put it near a message you will check later, so the little view is there when you return to the kitchen.
