USS Arkansas at Boston Navy Yard
Bring a little Charlestown home.
Slate Desk Plaque · 11 × 7 inches
A desk holds the things you need for work; there can be room for a local picture beside them too. USS Arkansas returns to the Boston Navy Yard for refurbishment in the source view, giving maintenance work a particular vessel to focus on.
The primary caption describes return from European invasion service for refurbishment; record cataloged 1946. The yard's piers and buildings connect this particular view to Boston's history of shipbuilding, repair and harbor work. They preserve a working waterfront at the time of the source.
The battleship connects naval service with subsequent yard work, keeping refurbishment as part of Boston's recorded waterfront activity alongside construction and repair. Keep the plaque on the desk where its picture can be noticed between a page of work and the next task.
