Boston Harbor from the State Street Block
Bring a little Boston home.
Rocks Glass · Clear · 10 oz
After setting out water for a visit, there is a little time to look at the picture on the glass. Warehouses and moored vessels fill the harbor basin seen from the State Street block, putting Boston's shore buildings beside their maritime traffic.
The source is a published Soule stereograph issued circa 1850-1920, opposite-facing warehouse basin and moored vessels. The view preserves a particular relationship between Boston Harbor and its shore. Water, buildings and routes form a record of local maritime life at the time of the source.
The published stereograph connects commercial waterfront architecture with vessels at the wharf, keeping a particular harbor-facing relationship within the city's historical views. Set it out for a visit or a quiet evening, with the local subject there to notice between drinks and conversation.
