Boston Harbor from the State Street Block
Bring a little Boston home.
Metal Art Sign · 7 × 5 inches
At the end of a few errands, setting down your keys leaves a moment to notice the view near the door. Warehouses and moored vessels fill the harbor basin seen from the State Street block, putting Boston's shore buildings beside their maritime traffic.
The source is a published Soule stereograph issued circa 1850-1920, opposite-facing warehouse basin and moored vessels. The view preserves a particular relationship between Boston Harbor and its shore. Water, buildings and routes form a record of local maritime life at the time of the source.
The published stereograph connects commercial waterfront architecture with vessels at the wharf, keeping a particular harbor-facing relationship within the city's historical views. Keep it near the desk or entryway, or give it to someone with an interest in the place behind the picture.
