Boston, Massachusetts, from the Charles River
Bring a little Boston and Cambridge home.
Metal Art Sign · 7 × 5 inches
There is room for a picture on the wall you pass on the way to the kitchen or a favorite chair. Open water and the banks of the Charles give Boston and Cambridge a shared view, with the managed basin behind the landscape's broad setting.
The Charles River Basin was shaped by the dam completed in 1910, which transformed a tidal estuary into a managed basin. Later Esplanade work in the 1930s and 1950s changed the banks again. The open water in this view belongs to a landscape made through successive public projects.
The basin connects open water with successive public engineering and park projects, keeping the river's familiar appearance tied to the work that shaped its banks. Give it a small indoor wall space where the picture can be seen.
