Built in 1769 for the new South Parish of Mendon, the Chestnut Hill Meetinghouse is a rare survivor of the earliest New England meetinghouse plan, with its door on the long side facing the pulpit. Its box pews and pulpit still survive inside, and it was listed on the National Register in 1984.
