Exchange Square
Bring a little South Acton home.
Slate Desk Plaque · 11 × 7 inches
Keep a picture beside the day's work, somewhere you can see it without leaving the desk. Two attendants stand beside a streetcar in South Acton's Exchange Square, giving the transport scene a small group of people to notice.
A postcard published by 1911 shows a streetcar and two attendants in South Acton's Exchange Square. The source records a specific town-center transport scene. The square's name and the people beside the car give this view a local identity within the wider history of electric street railways.
The square's name and streetcar connect local gathering with travel, a South Acton subject that keeps village life in the picture alongside the vehicle. Make room beside the pen cup or books, keeping the small display within reach of an ordinary day's work at home.
