John W. Weeks Footbridge
Bring a little Cambridge and Boston home.
Ceramic Mug · White · 11 oz
A cup at the kitchen table gives the morning a small pause. John W. Weeks Footbridge brings a pedestrian route into the Charles view, giving the two banks a crossing at the scale of a walk.
John W. Weeks Footbridge was constructed in 1926 and dedicated in 1927. Designed by McKim, Mead & White, it was sold by Harvard to the Commonwealth at dedication. The pedestrian crossing brings a smaller scale to the Charles, connecting its two banks through a route made for walking.
The footbridge connects the Harvard riverfront with a public pedestrian route, keeping walking as part of the basin's history alongside road traffic and rowing. Use it at the kitchen table or carry the next cup over to the desk, keeping the view beside an ordinary break.
