Lake Chauncy
Bring a little Westborough home.
Metal Art Sign · 7 × 5 inches
There is room for a picture on the wall you pass on the way to the kitchen or a favorite chair. Lake Chauncy fills the foreground before Westborough's state-hospital buildings, giving the historical institution a setting across a broad stretch of water.
A plate published in 1891 shows Westborough's state-hospital buildings across Lake Chauncy. The lake fills the foreground, with the institution on the far shore. The image records a historical landscape and public institution; it does not imply endorsement of past treatment or an unchanged present-day setting.
This view holds lake and institution within Westborough's historical record; its value is in documenting that setting, without endorsing past medical treatment. Keep it near the desk or entryway, or give it to someone with an interest in the place behind the picture.
