Landing-Craft Production at Boston Navy Yard
Bring a little Charlestown home.
Rocks Glass · Clear · 10 oz
The next drink can sit beside a book or a few minutes with friends at the table. Repeated landing-craft hulls form a Boston Navy Yard production line, letting the arrangement of boats show the scale of the work in the picture.
The 1942 source records production-line view of repeated landing-craft hulls and shipbuilding labor. The yard's piers and buildings connect this particular view to Boston's history of shipbuilding, repair and harbor work. They preserve a working waterfront at the time of the source.
The hulls connect a particular craft with repeated production, keeping shipbuilding labor and the organization of the waterfront within the Navy Yard's historical record. A quiet evening, a book and a glass of water leave room for the view as part of a simple moment at home.
