Main Street

Before leaving the kitchen, check the week's list and the note about your next appointment, with the magnet's little picture sharing that well-used spot on the fridge. Marlborough's Main Street brings a depot, streetcar, pedestrians and horse-drawn vehicles together, giving an ordinary pause several kinds of movement to notice.

An early postcard shows Marlborough's Main Street with the New Haven depot, a streetcar, pedestrians and horse-drawn vehicles. Commercial buildings line the scene. It records several kinds of travel sharing the town center, preserving the street's railway identity without assigning it to the Assabet riverfront.

The street scene connects Marlborough's commerce with changing ways of travel. Put it near a message you will check later, so the little view is there when you return to the kitchen.
