Paul Whitin and Sons built the Brick Mill in Whitinsville in 1826 as a cotton mill. In the 1840s John C. Whitin turned it to machine-making, the beginning of the Whitin Machine Works, which grew into the world’s largest textile machine maker. Restored, the mill still stands beside the falls today.
