Public Library
Bring a little Marlborough home.
Slate Desk Plaque · 11 × 7 inches
A book, a pen and a page of work are ready on the desk, with the small plaque set nearby where there is time to notice its picture. Marlborough's Public Library brings a columned entrance, arched windows and broad steps into view, three details around a place for reading.
A postcard published in 1907 shows Marlborough's Public Library, with its columned entrance, arched windows and broad steps. The building's public face is the focus of the source. It preserves a place associated with reading and gathering within the town's early twentieth-century streetscape.
The library connects an everyday interest in books with Marlborough's civic landscape, giving its public entrance a place in someone's daily surroundings. Set it on a desk or shelf where you can notice the view.
