The city of Boston
Bring a little Boston home.
Metal Art Sign · 7 × 5 inches
Give a wall near the desk a picture to return to during the day. Ships and wharves fill the foreground of the Currier and Ives Boston view, giving maritime work a place before the city buildings beyond.
The source records Currier & Ives published 1873 view after Parsons and Atwater; harbor, ships and wharves dominate foreground. The view preserves a particular relationship between Boston Harbor and its shore. Water, buildings and routes form a record of local maritime life at the time of the source.
The illustrated city panorama connects Boston's urban setting with its shipping shore, keeping the harbor's role prominent in the publisher's view of the city. It can bring this particular place to a room at home, with a small wall space enough to enjoy the picture.
