Thirty-One-Mile Stone
Bring a little Bolton home.
Metal Art Sign · 7 × 5 inches
At the end of a few errands, setting down your keys leaves a moment to notice the view near the door. Bolton's Thirty-One-Mile Stone gives the picture a broad roadside marker, with distance to Boston carried by one modest local landmark.
Bolton's Thirty-One-Mile Stone marks the road distance to Boston. Frank O. Branzetti photographed the broad stone for the Historic American Buildings Survey on April 3, 1941. The record preserves a roadside landmark and a measure of connection between a valley town and the city.
The stone connects Bolton with the road to the city, a particular way to keep the town's place within a larger regional journey in view. Keep it near the desk or entryway, or give it to someone with an interest in the place behind the picture.
