Commercial Wharf from Pier 4
Bring a little Boston home.
Ceramic Mug · White · 11 oz
While the kettle heats and the cup is set out, there is a little time to sit at the kitchen table and notice the picture waiting beside your hand. Harbor water and industrial chimneys appear with Commercial Wharf from Pier 4, giving the shore architecture a working background across the basin.
The 1973 source records wharf, harbor water and industrial chimneys. The view preserves a particular relationship between Boston Harbor and its shore. Water, buildings and routes form a record of local maritime life at the time of the source.
The pier-to-wharf view connects Boston's warehouse waterfront with water and industry, keeping the surrounding harbor landscape attached to the buildings rather than showing them alone. Keep it near the kettle, or give it for the cups that make up someone's day.
