View from the Charlestown Navy Yard
Bring a little Charlestown home.
Corkwood Coaster Set · Four pieces · 3.75 × 3.75 inches
Keep the coasters where the family gathers for tea, so a small picture is part of the table along with the cups. Ships stand beside shed-lined piers in the view from Charlestown Navy Yard, putting the waterfront buildings and their vessels within one shore scene.
A stereograph published circa 1850-1920 shows ships and shed-lined piers from the yard. The yard's piers and buildings connect this particular view to Boston's history of shipbuilding, repair and harbor work. They preserve a working waterfront at the time of the source.
The piers connect the yard's ships with the facilities alongside them, keeping a published view of Charlestown's naval shore within Boston Harbor's history. Use the set when friends come over, with a view under each drink and the local connection there to share.
